The record
Sexy Dress blends R&B/Soul, Pop and Dance with a grown, rhythmic feel built for radio, nightlife and the dance floor. The song begins with the attraction of seeing a woman in a striking dress — but the story goes deeper than appearance, touching on the person and the confidence behind the beauty. Originally released without the promotional campaign Lawrence felt the record deserved, Sexy Dress is being reintroduced with a new music, radio, DJ and social-media campaign.
Production
Sexy Dress was arranged and produced by Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum producer/songwriter and former Capitol Records Director of A&R Roy Hamilton III, alongside Lawrence Beamen. Hamilton’s career includes work on major R&B and pop recordings, including Joe’s #1 hit “Stutter” and Britney Spears’ “(I Got That) Boom Boom” from the multi-platinum In the Zone album.
